Kannada movie directors S R Puttanna Kanagal and Rajendra Singh Babu were his close friends and the latter was the son of Shankar Singh, known to Mr Rao. Mr Rao was their elderly guide. Mr Rao wrote surreal dialogues with synthesis of new Kannada words for 'Prachanda Kulla' by the late actor Dwarakeesh. Multilingual star Arjun Sarja was introduced by him. 'Putaani agents 123' and 'simhada mari sainya' are the best instances. Mr Rao pioneered making childrens' movies in Kannada. Mr Rao is also credited with introducing the late actor Vishnuvardhan. He could read and digest a whole range of subjects from the Meso-American civilization described by Erich Anton Paul von Däniken to 'The autobiography of a yogi' by Swami Paramahamsa Yogananda. One has to just watch the movie to know the size of the Nagarhole forest before vested interests brought it to a half! Mr Rao had an undying love for forests. The song 'Naagara holyo ammaale' was featured as a dance for generations in Karnataka! Mr Rao studied the tribal languages to script this movie. The movie 'Nagarhole' was scripted with screenplay by Mr Rao and he would describe a particular scene where they had an attack by wild elephants when the crew presumed that the elephants brought in for the shoot were acting! It's one movie to watch to see him don the role of the tribal man. Mr Vajramuni, who acted in most of Mr Rao's movies was my close friend and client. Mr Rao wrote some of the best dialogues theorizing about the problems in democracy and psychology in the movies: In the second movie above, my nephew Bhanuprakash acted in some of the breathtaking scenes.

Amrish Puri always addressed him with the greatest respect as one of his early movies, 'Ganda Bherunda' was scripted by Mr Rao. Mr H V Subba Rao had a greater pull towards his mother state and returned to writing for Kannada movies. In fact, around the time when the movie 'Sharaara' was shot, Dilip Kumar had invited him to the library in his house and extended an invitation to stay in Bollywood. He was an avid reader and a thorough gentleman - one who commanded respect from celebrities like Dilip Kumar, Hema Malini and Amrish Puri of Bollywood. Venkatesh is a joint producer of under production Kannada film 'Rajakumari' starring siblings V.Ravichandran and Balaji in lead roles.This is a tribute to my versatile brother-in-law, Mr H V Subba Rao who was a multilingual writer for movies, Kannada movie producer and poet. Producer C.Venkatesh is independently producing this film banking on the caliber of Kiran Govi. Harikrishna is scoring music for seven songs in this romantic love story film. The shooting will be held in 60 days at Bangalore, Gaganachukki falls, Talkad, Himadh Gopalaswamy hills, Bayalakuppe surroundings. How much a middle class youth can dream about is the concept of my film says director Kiran Govi.
